My current skincare routine

In recent years, I accepted that neither my skin nor I enjoy a complicated multi-step skincare routine… I was quite honestly dreading it before I simplified it. I don’t know why I’m like this, but I want and like to spend as little time as possible in the bathroom. So the fewer steps I need to get ready, the happier I am.

Don’t get me wrong though… a 5-minute makeup routine? Nope, I’m simply not capable of that, even if my makeup is as simple as it can get… but a 5-minute skincare regimen? I’m your person!

So, a quick intro on my skin: I have oily skin, and I’m not talking just about my T-zone — my entire face is oily. But it can also be dry if I don’t drink enough water (which has definitely been the case lately). I rarely break out, however, my biggest skin concern, other than fine lines and wrinkles, is hyperpigmentation — it’s genetic in my case, so it is even harder to get rid of. It gets worse in spring/summer, and even more so if I spend time in the sun. Wearing sunscreen has no impact on it — I always have sunscreen on my face. It’s not something I’m really insecure about though. It is what it is as hyperpigmentation is something that doesn’t go away completely — it’s something that needs to be “worked on” constantly, and I just don’t have the time for that.

Noteworthy

I have a few products I alternate between, depending on how my skin feels or, my schedule, really. Here are the ones I cannot be without:

  • I was using a retinol eye cream but it started to irritate my eyes, so I stopped using it. I switched to this eye cream and I love it more than the other [fancy] eye cream I also use in my routine (noted below).

  • This is another amazing retinol face cream I don’t see myself giving up using; my only issue with it is the fragrance — I could certainly go without it. Luckily, I got used to it and stopped “smelling” it after a while. Otherwise, this retinol face cream is amazing!

  • Still adore and use this retinol contouring cream — it’s a holy grail for me!

  • This is a cream I must have for skin issues — it helps with psoriasis or eczema-like dryness, itchiness, or irritation.

  • Another must-have is this exfoliating toner. Do not apply more than once a day and do not apply on broken skin. I recommend applying it at night as it can cause sensitivity to the sun. I use it only when my skin looks dull or I notice blackheads forming.

  • These reusable cotton rounds saved me from buying hundreds and hundreds of cotton pads these last few years.

This is not a sponsored post. Of course, the dream is to work with these brands. However, until that is the case, I am purchasing these products myself because I am happy with them. I would not recommend products I don’t trust or have not had a good experience with.

Here’s my current skincare routine.

Morning:

1) I wash my face with RoC Barrier Renew Face Cleanser.

2) If my skin feels dry, I will apply this Marine Hyaluronics serum on my slightly damp skin or if I want an extra glow, I’ll apply the Olay Super Serum (I alternate between the serums - I do not combine them as it’s too much for my skin and it may break out);

3) I apply this caffeine solution to my eye area, followed by this eye cream (I love this combo!);

4) I finish with RoC Barrier Renew AM Face Moisturizer applied to the rest of my face;

*If I’m in a rush or short on time (overslept or whatever else), I skip the Marine Hyaluronics or the Olay Super Serum and apply the RoC Barrier Renew AM Face Moisturizer only.

EVENING:

I alternate my evening routine between these two depending on my time availability, mood, or skin needs. And here’s a secret — I prefer the products from routine 1 more than the ones in routine 2, even though the latter are much more expensive. Except for the repair serumthis product is expensive, but it’s worth its price tag!

Routine 1

1) I wash my face with my Clarisonic face brush and this RoC Barrier Renew Face Cleanser;

2) If I wore makeup that day, or I feel like my skin needs extra cleansing, I wipe my face with a cotton pad (I use these reusable ones — the grey ones for cleansing) and this micellar cleansing water (you can rinse your face after if you want — I don’t);

4) again, I apply this caffeine solution to my eye area, followed by this eye cream;

5) I finish with either this RoC Retinol Moisturizer or this RoC Retinol Contour Cream applied to my face and neck/decolletage.

Routine 2:

I apply this set in the following order:

1) I wash my face with my Clarisonic face brush and this gel cleanser;

1a) if I wore makeup that day, or I feel like my skin needs extra cleansing, I wipe my face with a cotton pad (I use these reusable ones — the grey ones for cleansing) and this micellar cleansing water (you can rinse your face after if you want — I don’t).

2) apply the repair serum to my entire face + around the eye area;

3) apply the night repair eye cream to my eye area;

4) finish with the Revitalizing Supreme+ MoisturizerYouth Power Creme for the rest of my face + neck/decolletage.

I have become somewhat strict with my skincare routine and remain loyal once I find something that works for me. I don’t see myself changing it much, but at the same time, I pay attention and adjust based on what my skin needs.

What’s your skincare regimen like?
